Giordano Bruno (Person)

Giordano Bruno was a Dominican friar and scholar of science, astronomy, and philosophy. He originated the idea that the sun is a star, and expanded Copernicus' heliocentric theory. He also wrote on magic and cosmology, and his own unconventional theological ideas.

He was tried and burned at the stake by the Roman Inquisition for charges of heresy.
